Special Holiday Event

After your Thanksgiving celebrations have wound down, cruise on over to Pigeon Forge’s Titanic for the 4th Annual Thanksgiving Fireworks Event. The display will begin at 7 p.m., so be sure to arrive early. Allow plenty of time to tour the museum attraction before the fireworks and accompanying Steampunk Parade.

You’ll need at least a couple of hours to make your way through Titanic, as it is the largest museum in the world dedicated to the great ship. The interactive, self-guided tour will take you through over 400 displayed artifacts, many never before seen by the public. Personal items, clothing, life-vests, and ship-board paraphernalia are just some of the things to see.

The tour begins when you receive a boarding pass from an actual Titanic passenger or crew member. As you browse through the ship, you will see the things that they saw and experience what they felt. In addition to the hundreds of artifacts, you can enjoy the many interactive displays, like steering the ship, shoveling the furnace coal, or feeling the frigid water temperatures of the North Atlantic. Kids 8 and under will especially enjoy Tot-Titanic.

The centerpiece of the Titanic is the replica of the original Grand Staircase, which follows the plans made by Harland and Wolff. You’ll get a true sense of the scale of grandeur aboard the Titanic.

As you end the tour, you will find yourself in the Memorial Room, where you will learn the fate of your assigned passenger. Did your person survive the wreck, or were they one of the 2,208 who lost their lives? The power of the tour’s end is the way that it personalizes what can become an enormous, faceless tragedy. In that way, the Titanic museum makes history truly come alive.

If you time your day well, you’ll arrive back outside the ship just in time to see the Steampunk Parade of revelers in all their retro glory. With the enormous Titanic sailing under the power of steam, you can understand why Steampunk folks would celebrate the ship! After the Steampunks in all of their Victorian/Edwardian garb have paraded, led by the Titanic “Fantasy” Princess, the fireworks will begin.
