1-6: Dollywood’s “Summer Live Here” Great American Summer Celebration – Celebrate your all-American love of family, food and fun at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. Park is open longer – 10 a.m.-10 p.m. – for a full 12 hours of thrill rides, special live entertainment, and great summer cooking at onsite restaurants from. 1-12: Free Parkway Trolley – Less than two weeks of free trolley rides remain! If you love to walk, shop and dine in downtown Gatlinburg, take advantage of free trolley service that allows you to get on and off as often as you’d like between traffic lights #1 and #10. Trolley runs from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. every day.

1-31: Celebrate Freedom – Businesses throughout the city of Pigeon Forge dedicate the month of August to uniformed men and women with special discounts and extra savings. Discounts available for all military personnel, firefighters, police officers, and other emergency responders. Present proof of service identification at participating businesses.

3, 10, 17, 24, 31: Kid’s Night at Texas Roadhouse Pigeon Forge – Every Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. now through December 27, your kids can join in a legendary roundup of fun including face painting, arts & crafts, a balloon artist, and eating contest. 5: 8th Annual Smoky Mountain Cornhole Tournament & Stringtime in the Smokies – Beginning at 11 a.m., gather at Old Mill Square for fun, games and prizes. Registration is required for Competitive & Amateur Divisions Cornhole Tournaments, and registration opens in June. 19: Veterans Homecoming Parade – Gather along the Pigeon Forge Parkway for this 9 a.m. parade created to salute American veterans. Parade begins at Dollywood Lane at light #8 and travels through Jake Thomas Road at light #5.

21: Great American Total Eclipse – View the first total eclipse to take place since 1979 during a planned ticketed event from the top of the Smokies at Clingsman’s Dome featuring speakers and storytellers. Informal viewing areas include Oconaluftee and Cades Cove; these areas will be closed when parking is full or roads become congested. 25-26: Project Appleseed – Revolutionary War Veterans Association is a nonpartisan group committed to upholding the values and principles of America’s founding fathers.  Project Appleseed events are designed to ensure that future generations of Americans will learn and benefit from the lessons of our colonial past with rifle marksmanship and early American heritage teachings.
