A Fine Taste of East Tennessee

What better way to spend a beautiful summer evening in the mountains of East Tennessee than with a pleasant glass of wine on the grounds of Hillside Winery in Sevierville, located just a short drive from your Pigeon Forge cabin. You can do just that during the “Wine on the Lawn” summer event series. The Friday night events are free, family-friendly, and open to the public May 22, June 19 and July 17 from 6-9 p.m.

Pig Roast Kickoff Event

Take your lawn chairs or picnic blankets so that you can spread out to enjoy live music, outdoor games and, of course, the wine. Everyone in the family will have something to do. Adults ages 21 and over must present a valid ID for both free wine tastings and bottle purchases.

For the May 22 summer kick-off party, Hillside Winery will be hosting a whole hog pig roast. For $15, you can get a full BBQ plate and a glass of Hillside Winery’s Italian styled wine. A portion of the proceeds will go toward Relay for Life, so you can eat some good food, sip a delicious local vintage and help a worthy cause all at once. Everybody wins!

Once you’ve had your fill of fine BBQ, you can always ask about wine’s favorite pairing: cheese from Sweetwater Valley Farms, another producer of excellent Tennessee foods.

Plan to go early and take the educational winery tour, available from noon to 5 p.m. Kids and adults alike will learn a lot about the wine-making process that uses over 500 tons of Tennessee-grown grapes each year! No other grape crushing facility in the area is bigger than Hillside Winery’s, so you know that you’re in the heart of Tennessee Wine Country.

Hillside Winery is one of 5 wineries on the Rocky Top Wine Trail and specializes in bubbly and Italian-style wines. Visit the Hillside Winery website to print your passport and visit all 5 wineries to receive a surprise gift!  Here’s what a past visitor had to say about Hillside:

We had a very good time here. The servers were knowledgeable, entertaining, and very nice. In fact, we actually made two visits to this winery on this trip.
